General meeting of the 400 EUROPE DIRECT Centers in Brussels

EUROPE DIRECT Luxembourg Ville and EUROPE DIRECT MOBILE in Brussels for the general meeting of the 400 centres across the EU!

On 12 and 13 March EUROPE DIRECT Luxembourg Ville and EUROPE DIRECT MOBILE will take part in Brussels in the general meeting of over 400 EUROPE DIRECT centres operating across the EU. The event brings together representatives from the network to exchange best practices on fostering democratic dialogue in Europe and to coordinate their local strategies for the coming years.

The two-day meeting will open with a video message from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The programme will also include workshops and discussions with officials from the European Commission and European Parliament.

The gathering will mark the launch of the new generation of EUROPE DIRECT , which are the European Commission’s local face-to-face network that engages citizens and partners at the community level to discuss how European policies shape everyday life.

In the coming years, the network will put a stronger focus on democracy. EUROPE DIRECT centres will increasingly function as local hosts for conversations about Europe, creating spaces where people can meet, debate and talk about European issues. Through participatory formats and direct dialogue, centres will bring citizens into discussion and strengthen their involvement in democratic life.

For the 2026–2030 period, 315 centres have been renewed, and 85 new centres have joined the network in the EU.

Over the next five years, Europe Direct Luxembourg Ville and Europe Direct Mobile will strengthen their efforts to bring the European Union closer to citizens throughout the Grand Duchy.

The new Europe Direct Mobile is a mobile hub for European information and engagement that brings Europe closer to citizens across the country. Housed in a welcoming mobile space, it creates an accessible environment where everyone can sit, chat, play, and discover the European Union in an informal and interactive way.

With an expanded program of outreach activities, we will intensify our presence on the ground to engage with audiences across Luxembourg.

This new phase will be built in particular on the return of flagship formats such as EU Talks & Bites and Citizens' Dialogues, which were successfully implemented last year. These meetings will provide structured discussions on current European issues, featuring recognized experts in their fields, to foster informed and accessible debate for all. We will also offer a range of new, dynamic, and engaging activities and workshops designed to reach a diverse audience and stimulate citizen participation.
